Why we walk

Movement is medicine

Correct walking and the right exercises keep knees strong for longer. The goal is simple: stop early osteoarthritis before it starts.

28.7%

of adults had knee osteoarthritis in a community study across five Indian sites.

1 in 2

elderly Indians live with knee osteoarthritis, a recent systematic review estimates.

Who this walk is for

Senior citizens and the families who care for them. Women 40+, the group most affected by knee problems. Professionals who sit long hours. Morning walking groups in Mumbai and Thane housing societies.

Sources named in the Walk for Healthy Knees position paper: community study PMC5017174; systematic review of knee OA among elderly Indians PMC12178484.
